My first Volunteering experience in 2025
Early Morning is always refreshing. I got up at 6:15 am today morning eagerly to participate in the volunteering activity of clean-up of forest. The excitement already had built up in me when I register for it from office. I had been doing lot of volunteering activity, but this one was after a big gap. The gap was because of covid. I had invited my daughter also but when I woke her up she did not wake up so I decide I go alone. After getting fresh I started in my bike.
I reached Forest trek at 7:10 am and saw few people waiting. In could of minutes company bus came with around 70 associates. The got down and we all went inside. Normally there is fee for entering however, we got inside as volunteer so there were no fees.
We were hosted by the associates of ELIMA who are into waste recycling. One of their briefed us and provided the gloves, mask and water. Soon the forest office arrived and guided us to the path where we pick up the thrown plastic bottles, glass bottles, other plastic and littered wastes. We 70 associates divided ourselves into 4 groups so that we can pick up each kind of waste as segregating at source strategy.
The morning breeze, watching people walking., jogging and cycling is still fresh in mind. The greenery was eyes soothing. Felt close to mother walking the trek. The activity was fun talking to many people interacting with them at the same time contributing to the city I am living in. I felt proud and meaningful within. I would like to participate in many more of such activities.
